Values & Beliefs

Strong Rock is a Christian camp for boys and girls.

Core Values

1. Loving God, the Path to Purpose and Truth

At Strong Rock we believe that the most important thing we can do for ourselves and our campers is share how to have a relationship with the God who created us. If He is the giver of life, He would only do so for a specific reason. Though morning and evening lifelines are an important part of camp, we believe that our most valuable tool in sharing the gospel is through our counselors. By employing solid Christian role models, we give our campers great examples of how to pursue Christ. We believe that every moment can be an opportunity to share the gospel or strengthen a camper’s relationship with Christ. We are collectively successful as more of us understand who God is and fulfilling our purpose is the greatest love we can show Him.

2. Selfless Love and Genuine Care for Others

We believe that God has shown us His unconditional love for us by sending His only son, Jesus, to die for our sins. Because of the love we have been shown, we believe every camper should be shown the same unconditional love. Though a camper may make mistakes, showing them unconditional love provides them with tangible examples of how much God love us. We believe that every camper was created by God and has unique gifts and talents. We seek to identify and celebrate their uniquenesses. Our cabin life and tribal spirit encourages them to involve everyone and use each person’s unique skills to accomplish tasks. We also value putting the team first in regards to working together as a staff. Loving each other shows campers how the body of Christ is intended to work together.

3. Emotional and Physical Safety for All

We know that parents are allowing us to take care of their most valuable possessions. Their safety not only involves the physical side of camp, but the emotional side as well. We believe camp should be a place where kids feel safe to be themselves. In addition to rules that protect their physical safety, we have zero tolerance for bullying and other attacks on their emotional safety. Campers are encouraged to bond with each other and build each other up through cooperation and teamwork.

4. Growth Through Relationships, Experiences and Indelible Memories

We believe that every challenge is an opportunity to grow. Camp is the best place for everyone to be challenged to do hard things and to be stretched beyond what was previously believed to be our limits. While cabin life can be difficult for campers of any age, we believe that it is a great opportunity to grow leadership, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills. Skill classes will also encourage them to grow, not only demonstrating the skills and ranks they have obtained, but to seek new abilities and interests. Corporately, we want to continue to reach for higher goals and push the boundaries of excellence. We always want to seek a better way and improve what we do.

5. Infused Integrity and Honest Actions

If we are created in God’s image and to honor Him with how we live, then to operate with integrity is paramount. Integrity builds trust with our campers, their parents, and each other. For all parties to fully trust one another, keeping our word, refraining from selfishness, and pursuing excellence must be at the top of our list of behavior. This allows us to do great work, maintain a good name, and be admirable in all our efforts.

Our Beliefs

We believe in the one, true God, who created all things and is perfect in every aspect. Although one being, God reveals Himself to us in the three persons of the trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son, and that He is God incarnate. He lived a perfect life on earth and willingly died on the cross to make atonement for our sins. After three days He was resurrected and ascended to the right hand of the Father. Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man. We believe He will make His return to earth someday, ushering in the new kingdom.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Helper sent by the Father after Jesus ascended. The Holy Spirit indwells every person who places their faith in Jesus Christ alone and seals them until the day of redemption.

We believe the Bible is the infallible revelation of God to man, written by men moved by the Holy Spirit. It includes the 66 books combined in the Old and New Testaments and is the final authority in all matters on which it speaks.

We believe man was created in the image of God on the sixth day of creation and subsequently sinned against Him. Therefore, every man is in need of redemption, which can only be found through faith in Jesus Christ.

We believe all men can be saved through faith in Jesus Christ, and that it is only by the grace of God that we receive this salvation. Man cannot obtain salvation through any work of their own. This salvation is eternal, as all who place their faith in Jesus Christ have this assurance through the Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the head of the Church, which is encompassed of all those past, present, and future who place their faith in Jesus Christ alone. This Church is the body of Christ, and is not constrained to a building.

We believe that baptism is the public confession of our faith in Jesus Christ. It is a symbol of the death and rebirth of the believer. Baptism does not save, and only those who profess faith in Christ should be baptized.

We believe that marriage is a covenant relationship between one man and one woman for life. The institution of marriage is a symbol of our relationship with Jesus Christ, where He is the groom and the Church is the bride.

We believe that God created people male and female, and that gender is a unique gift of God. These two sexes complement each other, and a person’s gender identity is determined by their biological reality.
